The Shelter Now Transitional Support Program serves the communities of North Simcoe including Midland, Penetanguishene, the Townships of Tay, Tiny, Springwater and Christian Island. The Program is offered to anyone over the age of 18 that is at risk or experiencing homelessness. As part of the Transitional Support Program, clients are given a furnished rent geared to income unit for up to one year. During their one year transition, clients agree to participate in programming, goal setting and work with a case manager.
Once clients have gained stability Shelter Now assists in finding permanent housing in the community. Support staff will provide outreach services when necessary. This may include brief services, assistance with navigating systems, and advocacy.
Hartog House does not have emergency beds and receives more referrals than units available. There is always a waitlist to enter the program. To keep referrals active it is important to maintain up to date communication with support staff.
Homelessness is defined as people who are homeless or living in untenable, temporary or unsafe accommodation.
