With the generous support of the Home Depot, Shelter Now is able provide a community garden to its residents. The programming at Hartog House is heavily focused around horticulture during the spring, summer and fall months. The community garden helps to increase food knowledge by growing, harvesting, cooking and canning fresh produce.
Through partnerships with other community agencies, Hartog House provides access to many culturally based programs. These programs focus on improving wellness and recovery.
YMCA memberships are offered to those who reside at Hartog House. Seasonal day trips are scheduled throughout the year to encourage physical activity and socialization.
To build on responsibility and accountability support staff monitor rules and behaviour ensuring that clients are prepared for independent living upon transitioning to the community.
